MKS

Post-Cut Saw Unit

Highest Precision and Performance

Accurate Post-Cut

The MKS is a post-cut saw unit with a rigid machine frame for cutting cants, boards and squared timber.

The machine is designed for both straight cutting and active curve-following cuts.

Integrated guide units ensure high dimensional accuracy and superior surface quality.

benefits

  • High cutting accuracy and surface quality

  • Rugged and durable construction

  • Fast and efficient tool changes

  • High feed rate

Modular Machine Concept

The modular design of the MKS allows precise adaptation to varying production requirements within the sawmill process.

Depending on the application, different infeed systems can be integrated. The machine is suitable for both straight cutting and curve-following cuts, offering clear advantages when processing curved timber.

Infeed-side guide units further improve dimensional accuracy and surface quality.

Maintenance and future upgrades also benefit from the modular design: individual components can be replaced or modernised independently, extending service life and reducing downtime.

Drive Motors

Optimised Drive Concept

The MKS350 saw shafts are each driven by two three-phase motors.

With drive power of up to 2 x 250 kW per saw shaft, high feed speeds are possible even during multiple-cut operation.

Bearing loads on the saw shafts are significantly reduced, as the belt forces largely cancel each other out due to the offset motor arrangement.

Upper and lower saw shafts are adjusted vertically and independently of each other. The adjustment ranges are designed so that the saw blades can be moved completely out of the working area.

Saw Shafts

Saw Shaft Support

Depending on drive power requirements, the saw shafts are additionally supported by counter bearings to absorb cutting forces efficiently.

These counter bearings are hydraulically retracted from the shafts and moved upward when required.

This provides unobstructed access to the machine for maintenance and tool changes.

Working Envelope

Maximum Working Range

The MKS350 offers a maximum cutting width of 560 mm.
Maximum cant width is 600 mm.
Maximum cutting height is 350 mm.

Where full cutting height is not required, smaller saw blades can be used. This reduces kerf width, increases timber recovery and improves economic efficiency.

Tool Change

Faster and Safer Tool Changes

Efficient tool changes are essential for maximum machine availability.

Thanks to the well-engineered design and excellent accessibility, saw blades can be replaced quickly and safely, significantly reducing downtime.
