Precise log
rotation
The EV and EVP infeed and centering units are installed upstream of chipper canters.
Their key task is the optimum orientation of every log. This is particularly demanding when processing round timber, which must be positioned correctly despite its irregular natural shape.
Various alignment functions combined with precise centering ensure maximum sawn timber recovery and outstanding cutting quality.
benefits
Precise alignment for maximum yield and highest cutting quality
Reliable in large-end, small-end, or mixed operation
Highest process reliability even with irregular log shapes
Proven yield increase of up to 1.5% with LOG MOTION CONTROL
Consistent Precision
The roller arrangement and machine control are designed to feed logs reliably in large-end, small-end or mixed mode while maintaining maximum positioning accuracy.
The roller pairs can optionally be equipped with servo-hydraulic adjustment. This enables asymmetrical pre-cut cross-sections as well as diagonal or curve-following cant orientation during post-cut processing.
Exact Rotation
Especially when processing round timber, rotational accuracy is crucial for optimum lumber recovery.
Using data from a 3D measuring system, the ideal rotation angle is determined based on the cross-section and implemented with an accuracy of ±5°.
Natural growth characteristics of the stem are compensated during the rotation process.
Flexible Orientation
The infeed system can transfer the cant to the downstream chipper canter in centred or offset position, diagonally aligned or curve-following orientation.
The control software calculates the optimum position for each individual log or cant based on predefined parameters.
Optimized Rotation
With LOG MOTION CONTROL, the rotation process is continuously monitored and precisely optimised.
A stereoscopic camera system checks and controls each log to ensure ideal orientation at all times.
Depending on the project, timber recovery can be increased by up to 1.5% compared with conventional rotation systems.
Pre-Cut

Once aligned, two centering roller pairs and one hold-down roller grip the log securely and fix its position.
Optionally, the roller pairs can be adjusted laterally via servo-hydraulics.
This enables asymmetrical cross-sections and use in turning systems.

Post-Cut
The post-cut infeed system feeds the cant in centred and aligned position into the downstream post-cut chipper canter.
Alignment is carried out by three pairs of servo-hydraulically positioned centering rollers. Retaining rollers secure the cant position on the chain conveyor.
